Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Well known Nyonya restaurant in Ipoh. It offers delicious nyonya dishes. Better than I had in Penang. Price reasonable and delicious. Staffs are friendly. Always full house. So it is recommended to make booking to avoid disappointment. Like the kapitan chicken and otak-otak. They used to have tong poh yuk. Now no more, what a miss."
"Everything good! Anyone reading this must try the prawn paste fried chicken. Best fried chicken ever. We had the French beans, perut Ikan, asam belly pork, mango kerabu, sizzling tofu. All delicious!"
"Been here for Chinese New Year family dinner for the second time, last year and this year. The food is consistent and taste good. Pricing is reasonable with big portion of food. Dishes this year: Butter Prawns, Steamed Egg, Mango Kerabu, Perut Ikan, Stir Fried Choy Sum, Steamed Fish, Assam Pork, Hu Ju Char and Chicken with ginger and onions. Overall, I would highly recommend Bee Gaik Restaurant for all local and travellers who pass by this area in Ipoh Garden South. Please keep up the good work! I would be happy to visit with family and friends."
"It's my comfort food. Consistent taste over many years. Was hoping they give a bit more vege for jiuhucha for rm30 but overall acceptable food and service."
"Authentic, tasty, nostalgic for and ambience. A bit small and can get filled quickly with customers for dinner."
"Bee Gaik is a restaurant that serves nyonya food in Ipoh. We had lunch here and received pleasant service. Food was promptly served and even though we ordered small portion for all food, the serving size was very reasonable for the price. The jiu hu char, pumpkin tofu and kapitan chicken were good. The purut ikan was drier than we are used to but taste was alright. Parking in this area during lunch time was somewhat challenging. Recommended for a reasonably priced nyonya cuisine meal in Ipoh."
"A nice delightful nonya place whose food gives a "homecooked" feel. Came here for a family dinner. I personally enjoyed the steamed otak, assam prawns and the simplicity of the pumpkin bean curd. The mango kerabu was very refreshing. The person taking our orders was friendly and readily answered all our queries. Overall, good place for simple homecooked nonya food."
"This place deserves 5 stars for scrumptious, delectable Nyonya food fare. You won't miss this shop as even the outside deco is very authentic. Back to the food, we had the assam fish slices which was the star dish and it wasn't too spicy which suited our palate. Pepes chicken was another worthy mention. We also ordered sin kong tofu which is not exactly Nyonya but was really tasty and packed with quality ingredients. Only the mushroom seemed a bit devoid of flavour. Potato leaves was nice but a bit heavy on salt. Service was excellent, owner was friendly and recommended well."
